“Learning to fly has been the greatest adventure of my life… It is not just about the mechanics; it is about the freedom.”
“Believe you can and you’re halfway there.”

My journey
Stapleford Aerodrome EGSG
My path to the cockpit took flight at Stapleford, where I first mastered the controls of a Cessna 152. Training with Zia – his mentorship made those formative hours truly unforgettable. As I transitioned to university life at BNU to study Aviation Management and Commercial Pilot Training, my journey moved to Oxford. I look back on my start at Stapleford with great fondness—it was a unique and inspiring introduction to the world of aviation

Cessna 152
Buckinghamshire New University
I began my journey at Buckinghamshire New University, enrolling in the Aviation Management with Commercial Pilot Training program. Based in the charming, historic town of High Wycombe, the campus offers a peaceful and quintessentially British atmosphere perfectly situated between the hubs of London and Oxford.
My time living at Brook Street was a highlight, allowing me to forge lifelong friendships right from the start. However, once I secured my driving license, I transitioned to commuting—a 150-mile round trip that keeps me on my toes! For those following in my footsteps: I highly recommend bringing a backup internet solution if you’re staying at Brook Street. And for the commuters—aim to arrive by 7:00 AM. The parking fills up fast, but the early start is well worth it for the day ahead.

Oxford Airport EGTK
My journey took me from Stapleford to Oxford with PFT Flight School—now part of the LS Airmotive Ltd family—where I found a level of professionalism that truly operates like clockwork. I’ve since traded the classic Cessna 152 for the Piper PA-28; and while many assume the path to a PPL is dictated by budget, I’ve learned that it is actually governed entirely by the sky.
At this stage in my training, the weather remains my greatest challenge. Booking a flight can feel like a game of chance as I wait for that perfect, clear window for my solo cross-country navigation. Yet, despite the unpredictable skies, the experience has been nothing short of exceptional. With world-class instructors and a supportive environment, it is a privilege to learn to fly here.

PPL exams
The horizon is getting clearer! ✈️ With only two exams left to go, the dream of becoming a pilot feels more real than ever. I’m currently tackling Navigation and Meteorology—two subjects that are finally clicking into place. Huge thanks to the Pooleys PPL series and the question banks at EasyPPL for keeping me on course. We are officially on the final approach to the license! :D”

What’s next
“Final approach to the PPL! ✈️ This autumn, the real work begins as I start my ATPLs. I’m going for the ‘gold standard’ by pursuing both UK CAA and EASA licenses. So happy to be training at Stapleford—it’s close to home and the perfect place to level up. Ready for a smooth ride to those frozen ATPLs! ☁️”

PA-28
Walking out to a PA-28 on a crisp morning feels different than a high-wing Cessna. You don’t just stand under it; you inspect it from above. Checking the fuel involves hopping up onto the wing root—a small ritual that makes you feel like you’re mounting a horse. You check the oil, pull the chocks, and climb in through the single door on the passenger side. It’s a bit of a scramble, a tangle of headsets and kneeboards, but once you’re in, the “office” feels right.

Piper PA-28
The One Word that Changes Everything: Alone.
My first solo flight. A few circuits around the pattern, but a massive leap towards the flight deck. Gravity wasn’t defeated; it was managed.
Checks complete. Radio calls confirmed. Confirmed alone.
The journey continues, but today, I proved I belong in the sky. To everyone who supported me through the “crawling” phase, thank you. This one’s for us. #PilotSolo #FirstSolo #AviationJourney
Well….
